Holidays

The purpose in the creation of the Solstice Clock is to look to the natural world to find a better means of telling time and a natural balance.  Something which seems to be more evident as the clock was created is a recommendation of taking off of certain days of the year from work for rest, relaxation and enjoyment with friends and family.  Quite naturally this would be the solstices which is already the 4th of July celebrations and the end of December which most major religions hold as a high holiday season.  I recommend adding the equinoxes to your personal calendar for observance of a day of balance.  I propose that the duration of the major solstice holidays can me better defined by the perihelion (day the sun is closest to the earth) and the aphelion

(the day the sun is farthest from the earth).
